Born 1973  in Riga. Graduated Riga College of Applied Art, in 1993 Erika started her studies in Art Academy of Latvia. While studying, Erika participated in exhibition-contest (1996) and became a laureate of Humbolt University scholarship. This gave her a chance of a year long visual arts study experience in California, USA. American profesors were drawn to Erika’s unordinary combinations of shape and texture in her work.

The most intense experience, admits the artist, was the life in Arcata student city as well as the creative acts of two exhibitions - „Redwood art association” in Jurika together with USA coworkers and „Parking only for latvians” together with latvian coworkers.

In 1999 Erika returned to Latvia to finish her studies at Art Academy of Latvia. In further time, the artist took part in diferent important exhibitions. One of the most interesting and techinally complicated projects Erika has participated in, is Symposium of large format fireclay sculptures in Livani Glass Factory (2000). Her peace of art named ‘’Third eye’’ is now located in Embassy of Latvia in Germany.

Since 2002, Erika has worked as a designer, operated with the interior of emerging projects.

Since 2010, artist has devoted herself to painting only. Between 2010 and now, Erika has opened 20 of her painting solo exhibitions, as well as participated in 50 group exhibitions in Latvia, Lithuania, Georgia, Belarus, USA.

 

Erika actively participates in numerous plein airs, study of nature is inalienable part of summer season. The experience Erika earns in such way enriches and deepens her intuitive compositions.

 

Artist’s painting are now in Jurmala City museum collection, Bauska Local History and Art museum, Museum “Seelija” collection and numerous private collections in Latvia, Finland, Russia, Ukraine, Norway, UK, USA, Germany, Israel, Spain, Italy, Denmark.
